Ghost Rider

Ghost Rider, an interesting figure! Today we'll be talking about this hero, not only because he's interesting but we'll be seeing a lot more of him if we look at the teaser that Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has released (see below). This is a big thing, we've seen a few spin-off series on netflix but ABC studios has only published agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and agent Carter so far. This could be the first real super hero spin-off series produced by ABC.

But now more about the original Ghost Rider:
A long time ago there was a ancient artifact forged out of the blood of the original spirit of vengeance. It was a medallion holding the power of this spirit and was called the medallion of power. Through the years it broke and the pieces got divided over the earth. The demon Mephisto wanders the earth searching for the broken pieces and finds a human called Nobel. He held one of the pieces but the power of the medallion manifested on him. He became the first ghost rider and the power since then runs trough his family.

Years later Jhonny Blaze comes in the picture. He's a descendant of Nobel but doesn't know it yet. Jhonny's mom knows however she's able to make a deal with Mephisto to make sure Jhonny doesn't become the next ride. Later Jhonny sells his soul to Mephisto to save his mentor from cancer. Mephisto delivers and cures his mentor but he dies a day later in a stunt accident. When Mephisto comes to collect his part of the deal Jhonny runs and furious Mephisto turns the boy into the Ghost rider.

Jhonny learns to controle his powers and uses them for the good. He has supernatural power and stamina, he can summon hellfire and has a large chain which he uses to fight. He also can ride up and down buildings at a enormous speed and his trademark power is his 'penance stare' which shows his enemies all of the sins they ever committed and makes them feel the pain of those sins all at once.

In the series however, they'll be using an other Ghost rider. We won't spoil too much but we can say he'll be riding a muscle car instead of a motorcycle!
